Congressman Leonard Lance was elected to a third term in the United States House of Representatives in November 2012 to represent New Jersey’s Seventh Congressional District.  
Following the recently congressional redistricting the new Seventh Congressional District includes all of Hunterdon County, parts Morris, Somerset, Warren and Union Counties and Millburn Township in Essex County.

Congressman Lance serves on the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee which has a broad legislative jurisdiction including national energy and environmental policy, health and health facilities, interstate and foreign commerce, consumer affairs and consumer protection, and travel and tourism.

As a member of the powerful committee Leonard Lance plays an important role in protecting and growing jobs in New Jersey’s energy, life sciences and telecommunication sectors.

Leonard was raised in Hunterdon County, where he attended public schools. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa; a law degree from Vanderbilt University; and a master’s degree from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs of Princeton University.

Leonard served as the law clerk to the Warren County Court in 1977 and 1978. He was assistant counsel for county and municipal matters to Governor Thomas H. Kean from 1983 to 1990.
