EDITORIAL: Lance for 7th District

For the fourth time since June 2010, Republican Congressman Leonard Lance is facing a challenge on the right from Tea Party backer David Larsen. And for the fourth time, we are enthusiastically supporting Lance for re-election.

The Leonard Lance who represents the 7th District in Washington is more conservative than the fiercely independent Leonard Lance who served as the fiscal conscience of the New Jersey Legislature for 18 years, but we chalk that up to the excessive partisanship that has increasingly gripped Capitol Hill.

In any case, his fiscal expertise is a critical asset to Congress, as is his knowledge of New Jersey issues and needs. He is extraordinarily attentive to the needs of his constituents and stays in close touch with those he represents, which includes the residents of Long Hill, Warren Township and Watchung.

It is vital that all registered Republicans and Republican-leaning unaffiliated voters make an effort to go to the polls on Tuesday, June 7 – even though the GOP presidential race has already been decided — and vote for Leonard Lance.
